Coeliac Awareness Day
May 16
May 16 -
International Coeliac Disease Awareness Day
Every year, National Coeliac Associations around the globe use this day as an opportunity to raise awareness among the public on coeliac disease and other gluten-related issues.
In different countries, campaigns and informative sessions are organized during this week to share information about the latest research, treatments, early diagnosis campaigns and diets that can help people with coeliac disease and gluten-related issues to improve their well-being and diminish the discomfort related to life-long rigorous treatment and diet.

Coeliac Day Run 2026 – Registration is open!
Run to support people with coeliac disease in times of crisis
In humanitarian crises, people with coeliac disease are often overlooked, as standard food aid cannot meet their specific dietary needs. Without access to safe gluten-free food, even short disruptions can have serious health consequences.
By taking part in the Coeliac Day Run, you actively support the AOECS Emergency Fund. All registration fees go directly to our initiatives, helping us provide safe, medically necessary gluten-free food to people affected by emergencies.
Our current efforts focus on Ukraine and Gaza, where access to gluten-free food remains extremely limited. Your participation helps ensure that those in need receive the support they depend on.
